Bare stone, minimal dimensions and the bright Aegean white colour are the main elements that one can use in order to build a rural house in Mykonos. Under the dazzling sun, the clean-cut surfaces acquire a unique shine while in the interior of the house a friendly atmosphere of relaxation and dew prevails.
Natural materials in earthly shades dominate in the decoration of the living room creating a pleasant luminous atmosphere. Bamboo furniture complements the built couches, while the minimal design of the modern lighting composes an impressive element at the centre of the wooden ceiling.
The wonderful colour combination of white with indigo, which has been selected for the bedroom, constitutes one of the most characteristic elements of the Aegean tradition. Furthermore in this room the original suspended lighting compensates the entirely minimalistic decoration of the space.
A horizontal row of black and white drawings of flowers decorates the wall above the headboard of the bed which is clothed with white fabric. Two small parallelogram shaped bamboo chests replace the common bedside table, while the light blue wooden ceiling timber also predominates as an element in this room.
Light blue colour applied with the dye technique covers the walls of the bathroom. The irregular white tiles that cover the floor of the entire house also constitute the coating material for the open shower, so that the small sill for the water flow separates the unity of the spaces.
The plasticity of lines and dimensions that compose each element of the traditional architecture is enough in order to create wonderful corners where the game between light and shade does not have the need for the presence of additional decorative elements and materials.
The light curtains that shade the wooden pergola create a theatrical curtain that frames the splendid view to the sea. A row of stone arches forms gigantic natural panels at length of the swimming-pool, allowing the colour of the sky and water to dominate one’s glance.
The meticulously designed details in the decoration of the surrounding space, manage to discreetly integrate with the structural elements and characteristics of the landscape, without distorting the appearance of the house.
